Sir James Campbell was born in Auchinbreck, Argyllshire, Scotland and died in Ulster, Ireland.

He married Susan Campbell. She was born 1668 in Cawdor, Invernesshire, Scotland.

Their children were:

Mary Campbell (born 2 June 1690 in Argyllshire, Scotland)
